Wayne Lewis, Jr. embarked on his journey into the industry after earning his B.S. in Food Science from Rutgers University. He began his career as a Savory Food Technologist at International Flavors and Fragrances, Inc. where he developed an interest in flavor creation and was subsequently accepted as a Flavorist Trainee into the IFF Flavorist Training Program. Upon completing the program, he transitioned to David Michael & Co. (now Tastepoint), where he had the privilege of training under the mentorship of Mike Fasano to understand vanilla beans, extract and flavor. Presently, Wayne is a Senior Flavorist in the dairy department working as the Vanilla Lead. In his role, he formulates vanilla flavors and extracts, works with Production, QC and the IFF procurement team managing vanilla beans.
