About me
Dr. Lorenzo N. Bizzio holds a Ph.D. in Plant Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Florida, where his doctoral research focused on understanding the molecular biology underlying blueberry aroma compound biosynthesis using comparative metabolomics-transcriptomics. Dr. Bizzio’s work in that area is presently being used to help guide the selection of southern highbush blueberry genotypes with superior flavor profiles for use in the University of Florida Blueberry Breeding Program, run by his former doctoral advisor Dr. Patricio Muñoz. Graduating in 2023, Dr. Bizzio was drawn to the potential applications his research might have in the world of flavor and fragrance biotechnology, and so joined Advanced Biotech as their first R&D Molecular Biologist. Currently based at their Totowa, New Jersey headquarters, Dr. Bizzio is engaged in a number of research projects aimed at utilizing biotechnology to engineer organisms capable of sustainably producing high-value flavor and fragrance molecules.
